Guidelines
for the Group Project
The organization of your paper will
depend somewhat on the project you select. However, the organization of a
typical project might look like this:
Cover page.
Overview of the project undertaken.
Prepare
the financial section of a business case for the Remote Deposit Capture
Project. Assume the project will take 6 months to complete and cost about
$500,000 (year 0 costs). Annual operating costs would be about $150,000
per year for three years. Estimated benefits are about $400,000 per year
for three years. Use the business case spreadsheet template to help
calculate the NPV, ROI, and year in which payback occurs. Assume a 6.5
percent discount rate.
Prepare a
project charter for the proposed project. Assume the project will take 6
months to complete and cost about $500,000. Assume that the project
sponsor will be Dr Ahmad Ghandour, Project team including project manager
are group members.
Develop a scope
statement for the project. Be as specific as possible in describing
product characteristics, requirements, and deliverables.
Develop a work
breakdown structure (WBS) for the project. Break down the work to level 2
or level 3, as appropriate. Use the template file and samples in Chapters
3 and 5 as guides. Print the WBS in list form as a Word file. Be sure to
base your WBS on the project charter, scope statement, and other relevant
information.
Develop
activity list and activity attributes for this project. Estimate the task
durations and dependencies, as appropriate. Identify at least five
milestones and draw the project schedule network diagrams. Use this
information to create Gantt chart.
Other
knowledge areas are optional to include in this group project as we might
not have the time to cover them in the class. However, including more
information is considered as a bonus.
Grading
The grade is based entirely on the quality of your project
and the inclusion of process groups and knowledge areas as mentioned above.Projects will be graded for the following:
– Clear writing style
– Structure and organization
– Originality
– Meeting deadlines.
